What this version supports
Ordinary text subtitles in SRT and VTT. UTF-8, and UTF-16 files with a byte-order mark. Formatting stays when you keep the same format.
What needs a different editor
VTT positioning, STYLE, REGION, NOTE and header metadata block export. Inline VTT timestamps cannot be shifted. Format conversion supports plain text only. This tool does not transcribe or translate.
Common questions
What if no problems are found?
Your file passed the checks this tool supports. You can still shift timing or convert formats. Check the result against your video; this tool cannot detect whether captions match the speech.
How do I sync subtitles?
Use a positive shift when captions appear too early, and a negative shift when they appear too late. A shift changes every cue equally; it cannot correct timing that drifts during a video.
Can I try a file first?
Use the sample button above or download a sample SRT or sample VTT. The SRT has numbering and overlap warnings on purpose. Ordinary plain-text files up to 2 MB are supported.
