HookRake competitor shorts, measured · invite-only beta

We light one video at a time.

HookRake watches the YouTube channels you compete with and marks the Short that broke away from its own channel’s median — before the rest of the niche notices.

Invite only · no card required · sources stay attached

A number only means something next to its own channel.

Four hundred thousand views is a triumph on one channel and an average Tuesday on another. HookRake divides a video’s views by the median of the channel that posted it, so the two stop looking alike.

outlier = views ÷ channel median

Worked example: a channel median of 24,000 views against a short with 412,000 views gives an outlier of ×17.2. This is not a metric supplied or approved by YouTube, and HookRake does not predict future views.

The whole run, in five moves.

  1. Track

You name the channels you already watch.
  2. Detect

Every new Short is scored against its own channel’s rolling median.
  3. Understand

See the relative score, early velocity, source context, and a concise explanation of the pattern.
  4. Rebuild

A new angle and an English script for your channel, written from the public title and description — not copied wording.
  5. Ship

Move the approved idea through a simple production board without losing the original reference.

Three refusals.

  • Their media stays theirs. We hold public metadata and your notes. The video never leaves the channel that published it.
  • Credit rides along. The author and a link to the original stay on the card from detection to your board.
  • A report, not a forecast. The score describes what already happened somewhere else. HookRake never promises views or revenue.

How signing in works.

HookRake has no password of its own and never asks for one. The “Continue with Google” button sends you to Google’s own sign-in page at accounts.google.com, where you enter your credentials on Google’s domain, not ours. HookRake receives only your verified email address and display name. It requests no write access to your YouTube account, never posts on your behalf, and offers no downloads or software of any kind.

Public YouTube data is read through the official YouTube Data API. Access is limited to invited beta accounts. Workspaces are isolated per account.

Bring one channel. Find one useful signal.

The beta is invite-only while we validate the workflow with the first creators.
